First, you'd want to set up your reminders to remind you at the time a task is due.
Then, in your Reminders Settings (see the last screen in our Reminders Guide), make sure your iPhone is listed and on. (If you're just starting with the iPhone app, your iPhone will be listed once you log in to the app and synchronize for the first time.) The app will ask you if you want to let it send notifications; obviously, that's important to say yes to. :)
