iPhone Security, anyone?

Since I got no responses when I first posted this 4 months ago, I thought I'd give it another try:

In a thread now closed (http://www.rememberthemilk.com/forums/iphone/6322/) Emily wrote that the iPhone "communicates with our servers using a secure HTTPS connection to transfer both login details and tasks data (this isn't optional; it's always encrypted)."

Two follow-ups:

1. Is that true even if you are connected over 3G instead of WiFi?

2. Is it true if you are using an app other RTM on the iPhone to link to your RTM account (e.g.., ToDo from Appigo or Milpon from deadbeaf.org).

According to an email I got from their support team in October, Appigo ToDo and Notebook don't use secure protocols (HTTPS) for syncing between the iPhone app and the provider, even if the provider (RTM, Toodledo, etc) supports it. Not sure about Milpon...

[Note that the iPhone apps from RTM, ToodleDo, and simplenote, all do support secure syncing (at least for their pro users).]
